Hello [[FName]],

Allegiance Announces New Developments for 2009!

Paperless Option for Flexible Benefits -  Effective 1/1/2009, participants who elect direct deposit will have the option to receive an e-mail notification when their claim is processed.  The e-mail notification will alert the participant that they can view their Explanation of Benefits (EOB) by logging into the Allegiance website.  A password is required in order to view an account online.  Click here to read more. Click here to see how to elect this option online. Click here for the new Direct Deposit Election form.

Debit Card Update for 2009 - The IRS has just issued a transitional relief extension on the requirement that pharmacy merchants have the Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS) in place in order to accept healthcare benefits cards. This will extend the date from January 1, 2009 to June 30, 2009 for merchant implementation.  Expenses charged at IIAS participating merchants will auto approve as eligible expenses and will not require third-party substantiation. The debit card will continue to be accepted at pharmacy merchants who have not yet joined the IIAS, but will require third party substantiation on all expenses charged. As of June 30, 2009 these merchants will need to comply with the IRS regulations. See the IIAS Merchant List for participating merchants. See our new website for more information.

New Reimbursement Forms - To make reimbursement easier we have updated our reimbursement forms. They are now available on-line. Among our new forms are a new Daycare Contract and a new Orthodontia Reimbursement Form. Don't forget that participants can also submit their claims on line.

New Mileage Rate - The IRS has announced that the standard mileage rate for use of an automobile to obtain medical care (which may be deductible under Code Section 213 if it is primarily for, and essential to, medical care) will be 24 cents per mile for 2009. This is a three-cent decrease from the increase to 27 cents that was implemented July 1, 2008 to address escalating gasoline prices.
